When you get pregnant depends on many factors. To increase your chances, you can make sure you and your partner are as healthy as possible. It is best if you quit smoking, drinking alcohol, taking drugs and trying to reduce stress six months before conception. Can you get pregnant during ovulation?
When can you get pregnant – fertilization
You are most likely to get pregnant 2 to 3 days before and after ovulation, which usually occurs in the middle of your menstrual cycle. You can determine your most fertile day by means of an ovulation test or by using the method of checking your basal body temperature.
With the help of the test, the intense increase in the level of LH – luteinizing hormone in urine is examined. This hormone is produced in the hypothalamus and releases an egg from the ovary every month. In the case of temperature measurement, it should be measured daily. During ovulation, its value increases by about half a degree above 37 degrees Celsius and remains at this level until the day of menstruation. Self-observation is very important especially in the case of not very regular cycles, when the date of ovulation and the related date of corpus luteum formation are delayed.
What can I do to get pregnant faster?
You can increase your chances of getting pregnant if you plan intercourse for the day of ovulation (when your body releases the egg) or on the days before it.
Ovulation tests detect the release of a hormone called LH (luteinizing hormone) that occurs 24-36 hours before ovulation. Applying the ovulation test as soon as you start trying for a baby will help you understand your monthly cycle and quickly identify any irregularities in its length. While the ovulation test may not completely reduce stress, it will definitely give you faith that you maximize your chances of getting pregnant.
Clearblue Ovulation Tests provide at least 99% accuracy in LH.5 burst detection
If you have not detected ovulation (peak fertility) after three monthly cycles, we recommend contacting your physician.
Why can you get pregnant on infertile days?
However, you can also become pregnant during infertile days. How is this possible?
First of all, sperm viability, which we wrote about, is a mediocrity and generalization. There are situations where male reproductive cells may have the ability to survive longer in the female body.
In this case, a woman can have sex during infertile days, and get pregnant anyway – sperm can simply “wait” for an egg and when it comes in contact with her, lead to fertilization and pregnancy.
Ovulation is the moment during the menstrual cycle when the egg is ripe for fertilization. It only lasts 24 hours, but this does not mean that only then should you have sex if you are applying for a child. Fertile days include 2-4 days before ovulation and 12-24 hours after ovulation. This is because spermatozoa remain active for up to five days, so it’s best to make love before ovulation.
